About

Inspiration

Grewalius is the product of this curiosity to document the past, cherish the present, and pass forth knowledge to the future. It is a scalable and DIY (do-it-yourself) project which can be duplicated and taken on by anyone else who seeks to make their own family genealogy. The benefit of a website is that it allows family members/contributors from around the globe to log in and provide the genealogical data needed to construct a family history by providing data, documents, photos, videos, and tribal knowledge which often is lost or forgotten.

Open-Source Foundation

All of this is thankfully made possible by this solution which poses very little cost to maintain. That is because this website was built and is composed almost entirely of open-source components. As an open-source advocate and open-source enthusiast, I am proud to host this website using a complete open-source stack. I am also extremely grateful to the open-source community and all of their efforts which make this website and millions of other websites, software solutions, hardware, devices, etc. possible.

Open-source software is almost always free to use, free to duplicate, and free to modify. This freedom comes at no cost, whatsoever. The open-source community only asks that you give back in any way that you can. I am humbled by this concept and would like to at least give back by providing recognition to the solutions used to compose this website.
